Sarah C. Awad is a multimedia artist, designer, and educator living and working in Sunnyside, Queens and
New York City.
A graduate of NYU’s Art and Art Professions department, Her experience as a creator and technician across the fields of 3D printing, illustration, and special effects makeup has given her amazing opportunities to combine her practices, and create commercial and personal work that balances both physical and conceptual depth.
Her work is based in her fascination with and exploration of the suspended state of the post mortem, and the convergence and juxtaposition of the natural and unnatural that occurs in that strangely balanced, numbing, and powerful stasis.
Through the use of 3D Printing in conjunction with drawing, photography, and makeup, she aspires to create work that experiments within this realm, and explores its importance in the timeline-not just as a memento mori- but as a means to understand the self-destructive disconnect humans can have with their bodies, and the clinical and emotional decisions made on both sides of that relationship.
